SAIL losses seen at Rs 800 crore
Steel Authority of India (SAIL), the largest steelmaker in India, is likely to run up a loss of over Rs 800 crore for the first three quarters of the current fiscal. Official spokesman of SAIL, however, declined to confirm the figure saying that results will be made public by the end of this month.
Lufthansa cools heels, awaits Air India divestment
Lufthansa will examine prospects of equity participation in Air India (AI) after the government chalks out a clear-cut strategy on disinvestment. Meanwhile, the former has set an immediate goal of raising the number of flights out of Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai from the present 15 to 21.
BSE-100 index recast; prominent representation to IT and pharma
The index committee of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has revamped the BSE-100 index by providing a representation to 22 important sectors of the economy. The new index is based on a market capitalisation of Rs 2,51,750 crore as on December 31, 1998.
