MUMBAI, Jan 28: Wipro Ltd has reported a 169 per cent rise in its net profit during the nine-months period ended on December 31, 1998. The company has posted a net profit of Rs 93.1 crore.The software business grew by 65 per cent during the period, registering a gross revenue of Rs 435.9 crore. Wipro's software business consists of systems software and applications software with Y2K solutions not exceeding 8 per cent of total software exports.
The company's software exports and consumer care and lighting recorded a growth of 68 per cent and 46 per cent respectively in operating margins, according to a press release.
During the quarter, the company consolidated its position in quality software by achieving SEI-CMM Level 5, for both enterprise solutions of Wipro Ltd and the global operations of Wipro GE Medical Systems Lmited.
