Shopper's Stop comes to Hudco Place

D S Mehta
With the country's biggest departmental store, Shopper's Stop, the only one in India with international links, coming to Delhi in a few months' time, Delhities will have access to shopping facilities comparable to the best worldwide.

Shopper's Stop, which already operates in Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, is setting up the country's largest departmental store in Delhi. It has taken 50,000 square feet of shopping space in Ansal Plaza, the international shopping mall-cum-office complex located in HUDCO place, an integrated urban complex in Andrewsganj in the heart of South Delhi, the most easily accessible part of the capital.

Shopper's Stop, which has taken 50 per cent of the shopping space in Ansal Plaza, would have almost everything under one roof -- different types of clothes and garments, kids' ware, household items, jewellery, etc. Ansal Plaza, with the finest state-of-the-art business and shopping facilities, will add a new dimension to the shopping experience in the capital. Unlike the unplannedshopping centres, which have sprung up in the residential areas of Karol Bagh and Lajpat Nagar in Delhi and which have lead to frequent power breakdowns, traffic jams, overcrowding and lack of parking space, the Ansal Plaza, in addition to its prime location in Hudco Place, offers many other attractive features.

A marvel of design, the plaza has a combination of innovative and intelligent architecture and aesthetic setting, occupying a total area of 1.70 lakh square feet: 1,00,000 square feet for the shopping complex and 70,000 square feet for offices. The ground and first floor are exclusively reserved for a shopping gallery, a premium arcade, all-in-one fashion, jewellery, electronics, etc. The second and third floors will have offices. The basement parking is connected by escalators to the shopping area level. The complex is centrally air-conditioned and equipped with a 100 per cent power back-up system. It will have a computerised security system. Hudco Place encompasses 17.6 acres of land with another18 acres of green area. It has parking space for a 1,000 cars in the basement. The parking area is computerised. The complex has a unique pollution control scrubber device to filter pollutants from the air and ensure a clean and healthy environment.Hudco offers many other attractions, such as aesthetic landscaping, cascading water bodies, fountains, jogging tracks and exotic floriculture. It will also house a five-star deluxe hotel, a theatre, a cultural centre, art galleries, guest houses, corporate communes, executive apartments and a mini amusement park equipped with latest electronic gadgets for children.
