Andhra to invest Rs 150 crore for electronic governance
The Andhra Pradesh government, in a bid to carry out electronic governance, has embarked upon a Rs 150-crore investment plan to provide wide-area network and value-added services in the next eight years.
Centre hikes cooking-gas prices by 15%
The Union Government on Sunday increased the price of cooking gas (LPG) steeply between Rs 16 and Rs 18.40 per cylinder. While the hike will vary from city to city and market to market depending on sales tax and other local levies, the increase in the retail selling prices will be Rs 16 per cylinder in Delhi, Rs 16.05 in Mumbai, Rs 16.65 in Chennai and Rs 18.40 in Calcutta.
Centre may put IT hardware report in cold storage
The government is unlikely to clear the hardware report of the national information technology task force in its entirety, particularly the much-vaunted soft-bonded IT units (S-BIT) scheme. The recommendations formed part of the second report of the task force.
