Kolaghat, Feb 7: IBP Co Ltd, the government-owned company under petroleum ministry has tied up with the South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC) to set up a retail petroleum outlet at Kolaghat in Midnapur district of West Bengal on National Highway no 6.SBSTC has decided to set up five such facilities within the the current year in collaboration with nationalised oil companies under "Build & Operate Contract" (BOC) system on licensing terms and mutual understanding and cooperation in tune with the Golden Jubilee Retail Outlet scheme of oil companies. Oil companies would develop, maintain, manage and operate these outlets by engaging their officials and staff, while ownership of land (2.1 acre for Kolaghat) would lie with SBSTC on behalf of the state government.
Another such outlet will also be set up by IBP at Asansol (around 4 acre) in Bardwan district. The remaining three, to be located at Chandrakona Road (5 acre) in Midnapur, at Purulia town (10,000 sq ft) and at Titagarh (0.77 acre) in North24 Parganas district, will be set up in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation. Land for all the five outlets have already been acquired.
Two other oil majors Bharat Petroleum Corp and HPCL have not shown much interests in these projects so far, a senior state government official said.
IBP's Kolaghat outlet will be the first such one in the eastern and northeastern region. Its foundation stone was laid on Sunday by state transport minister Subhas Chakraborty. IBP's CMD SN Mathur said each of the jubilee outlets will have apart from fuel oil and lubricant dispensing facilities for vehicle and highway users, other basic facilities.
