Chennai, Feb 7: Object Oriented Programming Services Pvt Ltd (OOPS) which has got a series of software applications in convergence technology areas, is planning to introduce a computer telephony product by June in the country. OOPS is making a board for VoicePro of US which will act as a gateway, interfacing a computer with a public switched telephony network (PSTN).

The product which is an 8 port, computer telephony board (called VP 2001) is expected to be ready by March when it will be sent for certification in US and Europe. OOPS which is working on developing the software technology for the hardware provided by VoicePro is also expecting marketing rights for the product in some countries, besides royalties on sales of the board from VoicePro.

While VoicePro will be having the IPR rights for the hardware, OOPS will have the rights for the software. The hardware constitutes 35 per cent of the cost of the board, software development constituting the rest. Here VoicePro, a telecom company, will have adistinct advantage on developmental costs of software by operating through OOPS.
