Mumbai, Feb 11: CIBA Specialty Chemicals (India) and Dorf Ketal Chemicals India have signed a co-operation agreement, wherein the latter will become an exclusive distributor for Ciba Additives to the process chemicals industry. Ciba will, in turn, provide technical and research support services for all Dorf Ketal applications.
Ciba (India) vice-president GS Kohli said, "The co-operation in distribution will combine Dorf Ketal Chemicals' marketing know-how and Ciba's technology expertise to provide the process chemical industry with integrated solutions, high performance products and technical support".
Dorf Ketal Chemicals India chairman and managing director Sudhir Menon said his company provides total solutions to customer problems by following a logical approach. In this case, it comprises surveying the unit by process specialists, studying the problems and having product research scientists propose solutions.
"In addition, application specialists then apply and monitor these results on site. Thebenefit of this teamwork helps customers optimise the use of existing assets and increase reliability of equipment," he added.
Dorf Ketal, which has several single source supply contracts or alliances with its customers, has a manufacturing and research facility at Taloja. The company's research and development team have to their credit six international patents covering process industry applications.
Swiss multinational Ciba Specialty Chemicals holds a 51 per cent stake in its Indian arm.
With 1997 proforma sales of over Swiss Franc 8.5 billion, Ciba's products are available in more than 117 countries.
Ciba's process chemicals marketing centre, headquartered at Tarrytown, USA, offers chemical solutions in targeted monomer applications mainly ethylene, butadiene, styrene and specialty antioxidant formulations to refiners.
