About 72,000 litres of crude oil is being pumped from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) wells located at Lingala and Chigurukota in the Krishna Godavari basin in Andhra Pradesh, daily. An ONGC spokesman said that 35,000 barrels and 35 lakh cubic metres of gas were being produced from the 243 on-shore and 94 off-shore wells. He said 32 sites for drilling new wells in the Krishna Godavari basin had been located.

US millfeed prices mixed

US millfeed prices were mixed on Wednesday amid subdued dealings this shortened holiday week as most dealers turned to the timely delivery of millfeed. "Everybody is fighting logistics," a dealer said, adding that flour mills in his area will be taking several days of downtime this week. Dealers said that the market should be wrapping up most of its trading ahead of Good Friday.

Canadian natgas prices up

Canadian spot natural gas prices climbed across the board on Wednesday along with stronger gasfutures and higher demand because of cooler weather and storage injections. Marketers said a few big buyers, such as utilities, were caught short of supplies as temperatures in southern Alberta cooled off, which partly boosted demand. In addition, Thursday marks the first day of the unofficial summer storage injection season and some producers were in the market to bolster their supplies.

Tea lowers cancer risk

According to scientists drinking tea, especially green tea, is linked to lower incidence of the disease. Tea has been shown to inhibit the growth of several types of tumours in animals, a report says. Researchers in Sweden wrote in the latest issue of the US journal `Science' that green tea, and one of its components -- a substance called epigallocatechin-3-gallate, or EGCG -- prevents the growth of new blood vessels.
