Maharashtra to thrash out auto sector sales tax woes in bid to retain firms
In a serious bid to retain auto majors like M&M, Bajaj Auto, the Maharashtra government will soon sort out issues related to sales tax plaguing the auto industry. The government's move is aimed at promoting expansion plans by Mahindra & Mahindra and Bajaj Auto.
Banks credit offtake dips in '98-99 as recession blues grip
The banking industry ended fiscal 1999 with a sharp drop in credit offtake -- 12.9%, down from 16.4% growth in the previous fiscal -- as the shadow of industrial slowdown loomed large over the Indian economy.
Badla rates hover around 12 per cent
Carryforward rates on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) for the week ended April 10 stabilised in the band of 11.5% - 12.2% annualised returns. The fall in the carry forward rates was reportedly on account of the fall in the outstanding positions on the bourse.
