Chennai, June 23: Computer users beware, if there is `worm.explore.zip' as an attached file in the e-mail. It is a more dangerous virus than the earlier ones like `Melissa' or `Happy99'. It can destroy files, hard disks, mother boards and even entire computer systems.
This worm is now named as ExploreZip or Zipped files. When the attachment is double clicked the virus infects the system.
The worm monitors all arriving messages into a particular Inbox, and replies to them saying ``I have received your mail and shall send a reply. Till then take a look at the attached zipped docs.''
As the content of the mail looks like normal replies to messages sent earlier, people would open the file and the worm spreads fast. According to K7 Computing Private Ltd, which has developed a programme to delete the virus, the pay load that the worm carries is extremely dangerous.
It scans the source of programmes and MS office files in all the available drives and deletes them by erasing the file contents and setting thefile length to zero.
