Yamuna Nagar, July 9: Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal on Friday said that with completion of the Rs 220 crore Hathini Kund Barrage, his dream of constructing the dam had been realised. He said that with the completion of the barrage now the state would get additional 8,000 cusecs water for irrigation during monsoon.
Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the barrage, the Chief Minister said that construction of a four km long channel was also in offing which would help in augmenting power supply in the state. He said that a power house of 16 mw capacity would be constructed on hydel channel between Hathini Kund Barrage and western Yamuna Canal.
The Chief Minister said that the barrage would replace the 125-year-old Tajewala Headworks besides checking the flow of mud alongwith water. A lake would be developed at the barrage with a view to promote tourism and water sports.
