Escorts Q1 net jumps 40% to Rs 30.80 crore
Tractor major Escorts has announced a 40%increase in its net profit to Rs 30.80 crore during the first quarter ended June from Rs 22.02 crore in the corresponding quarter of 1998-99.

New chief to usher in fresh strategy for Compaq
Compaq, is set to emulate some of its fast growing rivals by increasing sales direct to the public. Traditionally it has sold its PCs through dealers and retailers, but is to step up its direct sales as it defends its market leading position, said new chief executive Michael Capellas.
