RUCHI SUD
TALK about a `must have' in ones wardrobe and pop comes the answer-a pair of Levis jeans. Levis Strauss has announced the launch of their men's wear khaki brand `Dockers' in North India, which is proving to be as much of a range as their blue jeans.

The Dockers range, targeted at men in the age group of 25-35, comprises business casuals, smart casuals and active wear in a variety of shades. It offers six fits in trousers for every size. Men can choose from fits such as slim straight, regular straight, loose straight, regular tapered and loose tapered, all of which are available in both pleated and flat fronts. The Dockers trousers are priced between Rs 999 and Rs 1,999.

Also on the offer are the Dockers shirts, which comes in classic shades of khaki, chalk, steel gray, black, navy blue and olive. These shirts are priced between Rs 449 and Rs 1,499.

Levis Strauss & Co have also launched a range of Dockers fashion accessories, like wallets and belts, with the prices starting from Rs 299 onward.

In its first phase, Dockers would be available in the markets of Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida, which would later be followed by Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jodhpur and Jaipur. Dockers brand was launched in India in Mumbai in April 2000, followed by Bangalore, Pune, Calcutta, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Panaji and Chennai.

Promoted as the relaxed formal wear for men, Dockers, would be available at premier multi-brand outlets across Delhi. "As of now Dockers would be available at Demag in GK, Classic Trendy in Sarojini Nagar market, Shopper's Paradise in DLF and one store, which is yet not decided, in Connaught Place," said Mr Sandeep Sokhanda, zonal sales manager-North & East, Levis Strauss (India). He further added that they are planning two exclusive stores for Dockers at South Ex-Part I and CP. All in all this range would be available in 15 outlets in Delhi.

According to Mr Sanjay Gangopadhyay, general manager (marketing) of Levi Strauss, "seven out of every ten males in the US owns a pair of Dockers". "Our aim is to give to the people something which is smartly casual without being stiff and formal," he added.
