[Details] The Tata Iron and Steel Company (Tisco) has approached the steel ministry for a Rs 450 crore loan from the Steel Development Fund (SDF) to partly finance the replacing of two of its coke oven batteries at Jamshedpur.

BHEL bags orders worth Rs 700 cr for steam turbine

[Details] Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has achieved a major breakthrough by successfully developing and commercialising a new state-of-the-art steam turbine of 100 to 150 megawatt utility steam turbo-generator sets in thermal power stations. The tubrine, which replaces the existing three-cylinder HMN series design with two cylnder kn series, reduces erection time by more than 20 % and commissioning time to about 28 months compared to 36 months for earlier supplies.

Focus on exports to Latin America

[Details] In an effort to tap the enormous export potential to Latin American countries (LAC), the Centre plans to launch a ``focus LAC project'' to increase the export earning capacity to one billion dollars a year. The government plans to realise this objective by increasing shipments of engineering goods, textiles, chemical and agricultural products specifically to LAC, according to a commerce ministry strategy.
