Five valid papers for Presidential poll

As the 3 pm deadline for filing nominations for the July 14 Presidential poll approached yesterday, there was a last minute rush of applicants. The day ended with a total of 64 nominations being filed with the Lok Sabha secretariat, including those of Vice-President K R Narayanan and former chief election commissioner T N Seshan.

Home Minister talks to IB chief over ED visits

Home Minister Indrajit Gupta yesterday held a meeting of senior officials including Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief Arun Bhagat in connection with the controversy over recent IB visits to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Delhi.
