Front denies entry to RJD men
In a victory for hardliners, the United Front core committee yesterday decided against admitting the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) headed by Laloo Prasad Yadav into the Front while pressing for his immediate resignation but the storm over DMK's threat to pull out its ministers appeared to have blown over.

DTH ban, no word on Broadcasting Bill
Though the Department of Telecom (DoT) notification banning Direct-To-Home (DTH) transmission and reception finally made its formal appearance yesterday, it made no mention of its reason for existence: the impending Broadcasting Bill. It was felt by the Union law ministry that introducing a "vague" clause which stayed DTH till the Bill was passed by Parliament would leave the notification open to being challenged in courts.
