ULHASNAGAR, July 19: Six Shiv Sainiks were arrested here for the assault of a UMC corporator. The central police of Ulhasnagar-Sector III have arrested six Shiv Sainiks who allegedly assaulted a corporator, Manohar Jeswani and blackened his face in the UMC premises.

The incident took place after the budget session of the general body Thursday when Jeswani, the corporator belonging to the opposition UPP and also the editor of a local daily newspaper, allegedly shouted slogans against the Sena chief blaming him for the recent riots in Mumbai.

About six Shiv Sainiks cornered Jeswani who was sitting in the chamber of the leader of the Opposition in the UMC, and blackened his face with ink after assaulting him.
