Australia lodge complaint over pitch switch

ASSOCIATED PRESS

LEEDS, July 24: Australian manager Alan Crompton has officially complained to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) expressing the team's disappointment at the late decision to change the Test pitch for the fourth Test at Headingley.

Chairman of selectors David Graveney and ECB's pitch consultant Harry Brind ordered groundsman Andy Fogerty to swap the Test pitch to an adjoining one, just 72 hours before the start of the Test.

``We have no problem with the decision to change the pitch,'' said Crompton.``But it is totally inappropriate that the decision to change pitches should be made by the Chairman of selectors.''
