MUMBAI, July 24: Two more persons died due to gastro-enteritis in the city today. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) sources, Sadashiv Tukaram Jadhav (65) and Jose Cholas (5) succumbed to the disease at S K Patil hospital and M W Desai hospital at Malad east respectively.

Gastro-enteritis has now claimed 36 lives in the city. Most of the victims have been children.

While Jadhav was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, Cholas was admitted at 70.30 am today and died within three hours of admission.

According to BMC records, 6,388 persons are being treated for the disease at various civic hospitals in the city since June 5. While 2,021 new cases have been registered, 1,888 patients have been discharged after treatment.
