[Details] Shortly after the Gowda Government was sworn in in the summer of 1996, V.P. Singh had somewhat lightheartedly remarked that the coalition did not have to worry about any threats from the Congress or the Left. It had better watch out for the Janata Dal.

[Details] There is much celebration of the recent attempt at rapprochement between India and its bordering nations. At the same time there are open apprehensions that our national interests and security may have been compromised.
