Chidambaram too faces flak

NEW DELHI, Aug 11: Left Party members in the Rajya Sabha staged a walkout this afternoon, accusing Finance Minister P Chidambaram of resorting to mere lip service to resolve the stalemate on long overdue statutory dues of workers in Central public sector undertakings (CPSUs) The problems faced by CPSUs, including sickness, came under sharp focus as MPs alleged that Chidambaram was trying to pass the buck and ``only expressing pious intentions'' on the issue.

CPI and CPM members berated the Government for inaction against officials of errant PSUs which had diverted workers' provident funds and gratuity. Jibon Roy describing the suffering of the workers, said they were starving and many had even committed suicide.
