NBFCs blame RBI for defaults

[Details] Non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) have devised a novel method to escape liabilities. Many small NBFCs and some large ones are informing investors -- whose deposits have matured -- that since the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked them to stop accepting fresh deposits the companies cannot return their money.

Mitsui pressure tactics fail to reverse UP govt stand

[Details] Japanese multinational, Mitsui's threat of stopping OECF (Overseas Economic Coporation Fund) aid to the UP government has not affected the state government decision to award the multibillion 1000 MW power project to Korean company Hyundai. On the contrary, it has refused to review the MoU with Hyundai for the Anpara C power project.

JCT loans to group companies

[Details] The auditors of Thapar group company, JCT Ltd, have qualified the balance sheet of the company, observing that there is no stipulation for recovery of interest-free loans and advances of Rs 244 crore given to subsidiary companies and other corporates. The company has been taking loans from financial institutions (FIs) at high interest rates and giving away interest-free loans to subsidiaries and other corporates.
