Tendulkar, Abey Kuruvilla to miss Challenger series

The overs-limited Challenger Series to be staged in Mumbai from October 9, will be depleted by the absence of the Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar and paceman Abey Kuruvilla. While Tendulkar has opted out owing to personal reasons, Kuruvilla has been rested.

Vialli keeps Chelsea hopes alive

Italian striker Gianluca Vialli scored one of the more bizarre goals of his career as Chelsea became the only former winners of a European Trophy left in the Cup Winners' Cup. Slovan won the Cup Winners' Cup in 1969, while Chelsea triumphed in the competition in 1971.
