Kunte earns first GM norm

[Details] Abhijit Kunte earned his first Grandmaster's norm when he drew with Milan Turpanov of Kyrgistan in the penultimate round of the Asian Junior Chess Championships at the Jai Mahal Palace Hotel here today. Kunte (2430) is leading by two points (9) and the last-round match tomorrow becomes inconsequential.

[Details] Opener Ali Naqvi became only the fifth Pakistani to score a century on Test debut, but the South Africans hit back to restrict the hosts to 216 for six on the opening day today of the first Test.
