Contrary to popular expectations, the 1997 Channel V music awards show in Delhi turned out to be a journey down memory lane. Golden oldies of Indian and international music stole the limelight from under the nose of young performers. The diva of Hindi music Asha Bhonsle, pioneer of Indian pop, Usha Uthup and the megastar of Rock n Roll Bon Jovi were at the centrestage.

Lights, camera, Bollywood back in action
Two months after almost grinding to a halt following a series of underworld-linked killings and threats, Bollywood is on the roll once again. The launch of Sudhakar Bokade's new film, Mera Joota Hai Japani, also marks the debut of Rahul Roy as a director.

The Fourth Estate got its first taste of Girl Power when the Spice Girl management barred "Indian photographers" from clicking their performance at the Channel V awards. The Spice Girls management ruled that only official photographer/s would be taking their pictures of the groups' performance.
