Sebi committee for scrapping stamp duty on share transfer

[Details] The Sebi-appointed Dhanuka committee on amendments to the Securities Act has suggested that stamp duty on transactions in share and debenture that are held in the physical form should be removed. Addressing press persons after a meeting of the committee on Saturday, Justice Dhanuka said that this move will do way with the discrmination whereby transactions only in dematerialised shares are currently exempted from paying stamp duty.

Colgate, HLL campaigns under MRTPC scrutiny

[Details] A bitter legal battle has started between multinationals, Colgate Palmolive and Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL), over the claims made by the advertisement campaigns of both companies. Both HLL and Colgate have filed two separate complaints with the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) against each other over claims and counter-claims made by them.
