Daughter-in-law sold to raise bank loan

ETAWAH, November 9: Police today arrested a person who sold off his daughter-in-law for a sum of Rs 20,000 to raise money to pay off a bank loan in Rajpura village under Bakewar police circle in the district. Besides the father-in-law, the woman's buyer was also arrested. Police said the woman was married to one Islam, son of Babu Khan three years ago. Babu Khan had borrowed Rs 18,000 from the bank and the tehsil officials were pressurising him to pay it back.To raise the money, Babu sold off his sons's wife in his absence to one Karim Khan. When his son returned and asked him about his wife, Babu gave vague answers which raised his suspicions.
