India File -- Srinath gives fitness certificate

November 12: BANGALORE: Javagal Srinath has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he is fully fit and ``makes himself available for the selection for the Sri Lankan series ''.

In a letter sent to BCCI secretary JY Lele on Tuesday, Srinath stated that ``having played six three day games, including three first class games , my shoulder was put to critical and strenuous test. To the best of my knowledge, it has withstood the stress and has responded well.''

NR retain trophy

JALANDHAR: Northen Railway, Delhi staged a splendid rally to defeat Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala 5-2 in the final to retain the Indian Oil Surjit hockey title for women.

Gloria Dung Dung (8th min) and Sunita Minz (11th) scored for RCF while Seeta Gossain, Pritam Thakran (two) Kamla Dalal and Sandeep Kaur scored for NR.Farah wins title

PATNA: Farah Khan (Karnataka) retained the sixth ladies National billiards championship defeating Amrita Mahapatra (Orissa) 3-1.
