Chandrachud absolves players, raps Prabhakar

[Details] Former Chief Justice of India Justice Y V Chandrachud has absolved Indian cricketers of any involvement in betting and match-fixing and rejected ex-all rounder Manoj Prabhakar's charges of such practice as imaginary and unrealistic. Chandrachud, appointed by the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) to probe the shocking allegations by Prabhakar in a magazine, has also censured the player by saying that his outbursts were born out of disillusionment.

Huber stuns Hingis, wins title

[Details] Anke Huber of Germany battled five sets for an upset of top favourite and World No 1 Martina Hingis in the final of the first Masters of Champions tennis tournament. The match, Huber's only tournament win this season, started off as expected with the 17-year-old Hingis rushing off to a 6-2 first set win.

[Details] Carl Hooper hit an electrifying century against Pakistan, but West Indies was fighting a grim battle to avoid a third consecutive defeat on the third day of the final cricket Test yesterday. The Caribbeans, who earlier in the day conceded a heavy 201-run first innings lead when they dismissed Pakistan for 417, were 198 for seven in their second outing at stumps. The play was called with another 15 overs remaining because of bad light.
