Stir may disrupt flights on Friday

A one-day mass casual leave by the officers of the International Airports Division of the Airports Authority of India on Friday is expected to severely affect services at Mumbai, Delhi, Madras, Calcutta and Trivandrum airports.

The decision by the officers was made today after talks between their representatives and the AAI management failed to yield any results. The stir will affect the functioning of the airport managers office at all the five airports, maintenance of runways, fire safety, power supply, etc. The officers are demanding parity in pay with their counterparts in the National Airports Division of the AAI. The ongoing work-to-rule agitation by the officers have already affected runway inspection and other activities at the airport.
