Scientists bring to life dead N-reactor

[Details] After three years, scientists at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station have now recommissioned its second unit, RAPS-II, enabling it to begin operations by February 1998. Described as one of the toughest operations in nuclear technology, not only has this revival been accomplished using extremely cost effective indigenous technology, it has also extended the life of RAPS-II by about 30 years.

[Details] A French court early on Wednesday convicted the revolutionary Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, known as "Carlos the Jackal", for the murder of two unarmed French investigators and a Lebanese national and sentenced him to life in prison. The verdict capped an eight-day trial in which the Venezuelan-born Sanchez was unable to refute evidence tying him to the alleged charges.
