Atal Behari Vajpayee had a new role to play this Christmas day : that of Santa Claus, albeit in absentia, as the Mumbai unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) donned the garbs of the bearded, portly saint and flooded the city's sick, deprived and poor with fruits, sweets, chocolates and other savouries.

Indian Barbie charms kids
She is a far cry from a Barbie doll. For one, her proportions do not match Barbie's impossible hour-glass statistics. And nor does she wear hip hipster that the 90s Barbie sports. But college student Vinita Jain does something that has endeared the doll to millions of children across the world: she smiles charmingly.
