Novelist Rao does his bit to help Congress

[Details] Former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao has asked his publisher Penguin India to postpone the release of his novel The Insider from January 15. Rao now wants the book to be released only after the elections as he does not want to embarrass his party because the 780-page novel has numerous "realistic" and uncomplimentary references to the Congress.

Akalis sound battle horn for Dilli takht

[Details] The Akali Dal has given a call to capture "Dilli Takht" and wipe out the Congress from all over the country in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. The party gave the impression of being fully geared up to share power at the Centre with the Bharatiya Janata Party, its alliance partner in the state.

Party presents a brave front

[Details] The Maharashtra Congress has so far been uniquely placed among all other state Congress committees now witnessing major rebellion and splits. But the exit of Sharad Pawar supporter, Suresh Kalmadi, from the party seems to have sent the party into overdrive to ensure that it stays together and combats the Bharatiya Janata Party-led alliance.
