Politics overtakes religion in Kamakhya
Standing 525 feet over Guwahati city on the Neelachal hill, the Kamakhya temple, devotees believe, is more than just the highest seat of the shakti peeth and tantrik cult in India. The temple's stone structure has, the pandas and bardeoris (head priests) say, not just watched over political intrigues in Assam but has also reflected what will happen in Assam.

Seminars mark Ghalib's 200th year
The city's litterateurs and academicians began celebrations for the 200th birth anniversary of its most renowned Urdu poet, Mirza Ghalib, in different parts of the Capital yesterday, but the general public preferred to stay away. An international seminar on the poet was held at the Ghalib Institute as part of the three-day celebrations.
