Senior Janata Dal leaders have begun hectic efforts in right earnest to bury the hatchet, and project unity in the party to face the people collectively in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
  Digvijay to gift free plots to rural poor in election year
The Madhya Pradesh Government has announced a "new scheme" to provide housing plots to the houseless rural poor in the State. Under the scheme, residential plots will be provided free of cost where government land is available to houseless people living below the poverty line.

Stealth aircraft achieves 94% radar invisibility
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) jointly experimenting with the development of a Stealth aircraft, have achieved 94% of radar invisibility. Efforts are being made to reduce the Radar Cross Section (RCS) signature of the aircraft to reduce detection by an enemy radar.
Decision on petro-bonds soon
The government would decide on Rs 18,200 crore petro-bonds issue to meet the oil pool deficit in the second half of January, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said. He further maintained that the first ordinance on increasing the corpus of contingency fund was devoted to the actual appropriation and re-appropriation.

The United Front has decided not to make an issue of Sonia Gandhi's decision to campaign for the Congress and, at the same time, stonewalled demands for Assam Chief Minister P K Mahanta's resignation in the wake of the sanction sought by the CBI to prosecute him in the LoC scam.
VDIS revenue Rs 8,000 crore, says FM
Voluntary disclosure of income scheme (VDIS) came to a close yesterday with preliminary estimates putting the revenue collections at about Rs 8,000 crore and the number of declarants crossing two lakhs.
