  Indian Dynasty saga strikes a chord with US viewers
What a pity for the beleaguered Congress party that viewers of the American Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) will not be voting in the forthcoming Indian general elections. On Wednesday night, the television channel broadcast a riveting three-hour documentary on the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty which had viewers thoroughly rivetted.
  Seed's clones will be `human' and not a master race
The Scottish scientists who created Dolly, the first mammal cloned from an adult animal, on Wednesday condemned as "grossly unethical" an American physicist's plans to extend the technique to humans. They said that human clones would suffer unacceptable levels of still-births, infant mortality, cancer and possibly premature ageing.

`Fifth force' exists, say Indian astrophysicists

Bollywood's best to vie for Screen-Videocon awards
The best of Bollywood will be showcased at the fourth Screen-Videocon Awards for 1997, the nominations for which were announced yesterday. The theme of this year's awards ceremony, to be held on January 17 at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai, is Life is Laughter, directed by ace comedian Satish Kaushik. The event will be telecast the next day on DD1 at 9.30 pm.
