1 shot dead at Kanjurmarg

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, January 28: One person was killed by two unidentified men at Kanjurmarg East, at 4.45 pm today.

According to Kanjurmarg police, Cashiel Mariam D'mello (34), a resident of Mariam D'mello House, was standing near the Postal House at Khalchipakhadi, when two persons fired at him from point-blank range and fled.

A bleeding D'mello, who received about 10 bullet wounds, was rushed to the Rajawadi hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.

According to the police, D'mello owned about 40 chawls in Kanjurmarg and surrounding areas and had several property cases pending against him in various city courts. The police suspect that some pagdi-related property dispute may be the cause of the murder.

The make of the weapon has not yet been identified, and the police have launched a manhunt to nab the assailants. The case is being investigated by police inspector Purshottam Gawande.
