Women end up as pawns in power game
An unfortunate consequence is rearing its ugly head over the wall of skirts surrounding United States President Bill Clinton, quite independent of the progress of the scandal itself: the use of women as political merchandise. Neither Clinton's friends nor enemies see the women as anything more than pawns in the power game.
`Hippest' song in Britain: God save brave Queen Mum
Just as Hollywood has consistently trounced the British film industry at the international box office stakes, this week the all American saga, "Free Willy: Presidential romps inside and outside the Oval Office" has squeaked ahead of Britain home-grown celebrity tale: "The Queen Mum's Hip Replacement-II". This is the exciting new sequel to "The Queen Mum's Hip Replacement", from the same director as "The Fish Bone in the Queen Mum's Throat". But the patriotic end of the British market including the BBC and the large circulation tabloid press it is still the Queen Mum who has won out.

Stars sharpen knives and forks
The race for Planet Bollywood is about to begin. And the hottest stars in town have lined up on either side of the fence, each group trying to beat the other to the post. First, Stars In Business, a company formed by Shah Rukh Khan, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Ajay Devgan and Kajol announced its plan to open a chain of theme restaurants around the country called Movie Magic a few days ago. And today, Wizcraft Entertainment Agency along with G S Entertainment announced India Talkies, an international chain of theme restaurants endorsed by Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan, Govinda, Karisma Kapoor and Mahima.

Few contemporary artists are engaged in Egg Tempera -- so called because the mixture is made from egg yolk -- and talking to one of them, Christian Puard from France, yielded a treasure trove of information. Christian is here in connection with a two-day workshop of the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi at the National Institute of Fashion Technology in S.A.S. Nagar.

Clinton takes a swipe at Saddam, emits a war cry in Union address
Not betraying any hint of tension and pressure arising from a raging domestic sex scandal, US President Bill Clinton used his State of the Union address to warn Iraqi President Saddam Hussein of impending military action if he continued to defy "the will of the world". The President's Republican opponents fully endorsed his tough stand against Saddam saying this was not only about the Clinton administration but about all of America.
