MUMBAI, January 29: A Judge of the family court at Bandra was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) yesterday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2000 from a lady.According to Anti-Corruption Bureau sources, the Judge R A Bhise had allegedly demanded a bribe from the lady in order to settle a matter pertaining to a divorce case with her husband. Judge Bhise then asked the lady to come to Hotel Sharda at Haji Ali with the money.
The lady approached the ACB who laid a trap at Hotel Sharda and caught the Judge red-handed yesterday evening. As per the procedure, an accused caught by the ACB have to be produced for remand before the Metropolitan Magistrate at the Esplanade Court. However, ACB sources said that the department has sought permission from the High Court and a committee has been appointed to decide which Court the Judge will be produced and tried at. ACB sources also informed that justice Bhise's residence had been searched.
In another case, ACB sleuths arrested a hawkeryesterday while he was offering a bribe to an Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officer.
