Time to rest Rajiv tom-tom: BJP
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has urged the Congress to stop using Rajiv Gandhi's assasination as a vote-garnering ploy. Other political parties have also endorsed the BJP call while at the same time criticising the DMK for its silence in the matter.

DMK's manifesto likens BJP to the plague
The Bharatiya Janata Party came in for a lot of criticism in the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) election manifesto released on Thursday. The BJP was flayed for fostering communal ideals. The BJP's poll partner, the AIADMK, was also targetted in the DMK manifesto. The DMK also flayed the Congress, holding it responsible for the mid-term polls. The manifesto, meanwhile, lauded the economic policy of the present UF government and also underlined the DMK's stress on continuance of the reforms.

Party ideologies, loyalties bite the dust in UP
Ideals have been relegated to the backseat in Uttar Pradesh as political parties prepare for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Parties, contesting for the 85 Lok Sabha seats up for grabs in UP, are cutting across party lines to strike alliances in a bid to secure a winning vote. The main credo of the parties now seems to be "Win at any cost" regardless of the consequences.
