  BJP will share power with its allies
The BJP leader L K Advani categorically stated that even if the BJP notched up a comfortable majority on its own in the coming Lok Sabha elections, the party would share power with its allies including the AIADMK(J).

The Rashtriya Janata Party (RJP) in Gujarat yesterday unilaterally resolved to call off seat sharing talks with Congress and decided to face the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections alone.

CPI is Cong ally in Punjab
The Congress, which is contesting the ensuing Lok Sabha elections in Punjab in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has found another ally in the Communist Party of India (CPI). The electoral adjustment between the CPI and the Congress was formalised the day before yesterday with the withdrawal of its candidate by the Congress from Bathinda in the Akali dominated Malwa belt in the State.
BJP seeks white paper on graft before polls
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Atal Behari Vajpayee yesterday demanded that the Union Government publish a white paper on the cases of corruption involving persons in high places, before the ensuing elections to the Lok Sabha.

BJP election arsenal includes nuke option
Going farthest among the political parties, the BJP manifesto to be released on February 2 will demand that India exercise its nuclear option. Party insiders here say the party will reiterate its call to exercise the option to induct nuclear weapons and emphasise the early completion of the Agni missile project.
BJP avoids AIADMK's hard line; chooses to go soft on DMK
The AIADMK combine's campaign was kicked off on the Marina Sands on February 1, with the leaders of all the constituent parties chorusing a strident anti-DMK attack, barring the BJP which chose to sing a different tune -- an anti-Congress harangue.
