Coastal eco development project

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
AHMEDABAD, Feb 4: The Department of Ocean Development is undertaking a project on Integrated Coastal and Marine Area Management (ICMAM) to carry out capacity building activities relating to development of model ICMAM plans for three sites.

Disclosing this during his key-note address on Coastal Area Development at at Bhavnagar University yesterday, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology YK Alagh said one of the sites was Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat.

Under the project, detailed investigations on various environmental problems which affect coastal and marine areas would be analysed and integrated management solutions would be evolved, he said.

Preparation of such plans would help minimise adverse impact of activities on environment, and promote sustainable development in the region, Alagh said.
