Sabu Varkey in reckoning

BANGALORE, Feb 6: Sabu Varkey has been included in the preparatory camp for the forthcoming Test series against Pakistan. The news was conveyed to Sabu, who had been out of the team for over a season, yesterday by Karnataka State Hockey Association Secretary K Krishnamurthy.``It is great to be back in the reckoning for the Indian team,'' was how Sabu Varkey reacted on Friday when ENS contacted him. Sabu made his international debut during the tour of South Africa in 1993 and followed it up with a splendid performance at the Hiroshima Asia Cup in 1994. He went on to play in the Hiroshima Asiad and the Sydney World Cup before being omitted.He staged a comeback in 1996 at the Sultan Azlan Shah tourney in Ipoh (Malaysia).
