Eastern, western regions sign power agreement
With the signing of a recent pact between eastern and western regions, 180 MW of excess power will be routed from the eastern region to the western region. However, out of this a major share of 100 MW is being given to Kerala in the southern region which has around 20% shortage of power.

Cabinet rejects agriculture ministry plan to cut urea prices
The Union cabinet has shot down Union agriculture ministry's proposal to reduce the price of urea (nitrogenous fertiliser) by Rs 100 per tonne. The cabinet had told a committee of secretaries (CoS) to look into the proposal and suggest whether the price cut was a viable option.

NC files plea in SC over polling date
The ruling National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir has moved the Supreme Court against the Election Commission's decision to hold polls in Anantnag, Baramulla and Udhampur constituencies on March 7. The NC's main contention is that the polls would influence voters as counting of votes in other states and Union territories would have begun on March 2.
