Book blames top Cong leaders for anti-Sikh riots

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, February 7: A book on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Government Organised Carnage: November 1984, was released today by some of the victims whose families were killed in the riots.

According to the book, the violence against Sikhs in 1984 was not communal in nature but was `pre-planned and well-organised, committed by a Congress government against Sikhs.' The book, written by Gurcharan Singh Babbar, president of the All India Shiromani Akali Dal(Babbar) accuses the Congress of being the chief culprit in the riots.

The book also claims to highlight the role played by various politicians in the riots including Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao, Arun Nehru, Bhajan Lal, HKL Bhagat, Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar. Babbar said that the Sikhs had been ignored by all parties in the upcoming elections.

``All political parties should make clear their plans on how to deliver justice to the victims of the riots,'' he said.
