NEW DELHI, FEB 10: Bharatiya Janata Party president L K Advani said on Monday that the party has not changed its policies because it does not want to ``cheat the minorities.''Addressing a lunch hour meeting here, Advani said, ``We do not want to change our rules and cheat the minorities. But once the BJP comes to power there will be no discrimination against the minorities.''
Advani spoke for almost an hour at the meeting attended mostly by bureaucrats and government employees.
The BJP president said, ``Service classes are the worst-affected by price rise. If voted to power, the BJP government will take special care to better their lot.'' There is only one option before the country, he said, adding, ``Vajpayee has to be voted to power to avoid another hung Parliament and possible elections.''
Taking on the Congress, Advani added, ``After withdrawing support and toppling the last government, I would like to know why Sitaram Kesri is not taking about the Jain Commission report anymore.''
On SoniaGandhi's aggressive campaign for the Congress he said, ``The Congress has become a strange party. Its partymen are bowing before a leader who is not the party president or even the Congress leader in Parliament.''
``It is unfortunate that a party which once had leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru is now banking on a person who is not even an Indian,'' he said. ``The Congress seems to have only one star campaigner; the BJP has a number of them.''
He addressed three other public meetings at various places including Vikas Marg in East Delhi and Madhubhan Chowk in outer Delhi.
