  Former Gujarat MLA gets 83 yrs RI
Bhav Singh Rathod, a former Gujarat MLA who was convicted yesterday by the Additional Sessions Court, Ernakulam, in a narcotic drug case, has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a total period of 83 years and to pay a total fine of Rs 8.5 lakh under five different sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS)/Customs Act.

Monica may testify today
Former White House intern Monica Lewinsky is likely to testify before the grand jury today in the sex-and-perjury probe targeting President Bill Clinton, according to her lawyer William Ginsburg. Independent prosecutor Kenneth Starr who is investigating charges that Lewinsky had an affair with Clinton and that the President urged her to lie about it, issued a subpoena requiring her to testify before the grand jury.

De Niro grilled in call-girl case
Oscar-winning American actor Robert de Niro was interrogated by French authorities in Paris for several hours in connection with a prostitution-ring. Police picked up De Niro, known for his roles in films like Raging Bull and Taxi Driver, from the Bristol hotel yesterday for questioning in connection with a call-girl ring.
125-yr-old sub-way discovered
A 125-year-old sub-way was discovered in the premises of the Mazgaon metropolitan court in South-Central Mumbai last Saturday during digging operations for the court's third building. Advocates and local residents are trying to "dig out" the "mystery and history" of the sub-way which is connected to Court no 14. According to the records available with the Public Works Department (PWD), the second metropolitan court was built in 1875 at the cost of Rs 82,044.
