With environmental regulations becoming strict and consumers preference for green becoming a reality, it is imperative for the industry to adopt clean technology. In view of which it is important for Indian companies to cater to the growing demand for environmentally freindly technology which saves power to a certain extent at the same time being productive in use.
  Academic publishers bask in an evergreen market
Textbook publishing seems to be one of the few businesses which have not been much affected by recession in the economy. Neither has the apparent fall in the reading habits taken its toll on textbooks sales. However, S K Bhatia president of the Delhi State Booksellers and Publishing Association points out that the Indian reader is not interested in Poetry, fiction and literary works except for a few celebrated authors whose writings find few select readers.

A backward district begins to move forward
In Sindhudurg district, postmen do not bring too many money orders nowadays. The people are utilising opportunities that have begun to pour at their doorsteps. Like other districts in Konkan, Sindhudurg used to be known for its money order economy. Now the economy has begun to breathe on its own.
Printed word still influential: says Tendulkar
Noted playwright and writer Vijay Tendulkar averred that the printed word still commands a very large influence in Maharashtra. Tendulkar, who was speaking at a function in Mumbai to mark the release of a book Nivdak Manus, further added that among Marathi readership, the journalism of the Marathi weekly Manus has not come to an end.

Pawar dares Govt to table Srikrishna report
Senior Congress leader Sharad Pawar yesterday alleged that the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance was behind the 1993 Mumbai riots and challenged the alliance government to make public the Srikrishna Commission report. Addressing a well-attended public meeting at Sangamner for Congress candidate Prasad Tanpure from Kopargaon Lok Sabha constituency, Pawar alleged that the alliance government is behind the killing of innocents during the riots.
