EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, February 23: The indefinite hunger strike by students of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) completed its thirteenth day with Somyajit Chowdhary being admitted to the Sassoon hospital on Sunday afternoon. He is the fourth student to be admitted so far.

A statement issued by Srinivas Chandran, General Secretary, Students' Association, FTII, said that a delegation of three students including President Kavita Pai left for Delhi, for a meeting with the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Jaipal Reddy in an effort to resolve the unnecessarily prolonged crisis at FTII.

A month and a half has passed after the meeting with the minister on January 10. The agreement reached at in this meeting was not ratified by the Governing Council in its meeting on February 8. The ratification was delayed as members of the council wanted to meet the minister themselves, the statement added.
