Ranatunga leads Lanka to S AfricaCOLOMBO: Sri Lanka today named a 16-member squad led by skipper Arjuna Ranatunga for the upcoming cricket tour of South Africa.
Sri Lankan cricket authorities said the tour would run from March 3 to April 25.
Sri Lanka: Arjuna Ranatunga (captain), Aravinda de Silva (vice-capt), Sanath Jayasuriya, Marvan Atapatttu, Roshan Mahanama, Hashan Tillekeratne, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Kumar Dharmasena, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas, Ravindra Pushpakumara, Sajeeva de Silva, Mahela Jayawardena, Russel Arnold, Upul Chandana and Pramodya Wickramasinghe.
Sunita triumphs
NEW DELHI: Sunita Godara did India proud winning the fifth Egyptian International Marathon held in Cairo on Feb 20.
In a strong field of 113 women runners from 21 countries, Godara clocked two hours, 59 minutes and 20 seconds. Sunita collected $ 10,000 winner's cash prize.
Johnson supreme
WASHINGTON: Washington's native son Mark Johnson knocked out Arthur Johnson in the first roundhere to retain his International Boxing Federation flyweight title.
It was the 26-year-old Johnson's fifth defence of the title he won in May 1996. Mark Johnson took his record to 34-1 with 25 wins inside the distance. Twenty of his 25 knockouts have come in the first three rounds.
